My Review of 'Inhuman'
Wow! I completely loved this story! It deserves 10 stars in my opinion. I really didn’t know what to expect from this one besides that it was a dystopian, and had some very intriguing claims. I was pleasantly surprised and am eagerly awaiting the next book in this series and would run out and buy it if it was available today, in a heartbeat.
In the post-apocalyptic world where a virus developed by a huge amusement park type corporation wiped out most of humanity, Lane discovers that her father, Mack, has a lot more to do with the other side of a huge wall erected after the virus spread to keep the ‘ferals’ out. Lane lives on the West side of this wall, which keeps the Ferals and their virus out and keeps the normal humans in. But then, she’s thrust into the East side of the wall. These ferals are mutated humans infected with the Ferae virus that killed most of the population. But what happens when it stops being so lethal and leaves it’s survivors morphed into animals. Mammals mostly. They can walk and talk and do everything a human does, but in the end, the virus still has a very lethal stronghold on them, and they are not to be trusted. Don’t get bit. Survival is key in the East.
Lane encounters some hot, hot comrades in her unplanned adventure into the East: Rafe and Everson, two completely different boys from two different worlds who keep the flow of the action going easily with their competitive banter and sexy innuendos with Lane as they cross the unknown territory of the East in search of a way to save Lane’s father from a death sentence for crossing the wall unauthorized.
Full of vibrant imagery and savory characters that get under your skin, literally. I was so engrossed in this tale, it was adventurous, fun and different from any other dystopian tales I’d read. Highly recommend it. Now if only book 2 was here already, I want to jump right back into adventure as soon as I possibly can!

About the Author
Kat Falls lives in Evanston, Illinois with her husband, theater director Robert Falls, their three children and a whole slew of pets. She grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland, attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as an undergrad and went on to receive an MFA in screenwriting from Northwestern University.
Kat came up with the idea for her debut novel, Dark Life (Scholastic Press, May 2010), during a writing exercise. Knowing that her 11-year-old son loved reading about the ocean, Wild West pioneers and, of course, the X-Men, she combined his interests and created a story premise that kept her up nights plotting and world-building.
Today, Dark Life has deals in eighteen international markets and is in development at Disney with the Gotham Group producing. Named an ABC New Voices pick for outstanding debuts of 2010, Dark Life was featured on The Today Show in July 2010 when it was selected by Al Roker for "Al's Book Club for Kids.” Dark Life has been nominated for eight state book awards and in 2011, Kat was awarded a Juvenile Literary Award by The Friends of American Writers'.
