Review: Losing Francesca by J.A. Huss

Losing Francesca
by J.A. Huss

Blurb:
This book will be published on July 1!

WARNING: This book contains no smut. It’s not smexy or hot. It’s sweet and filled with a longing so deep, your heart will ache and maybe even break. This book is about bare feet on the beach, the sound of crashing waves, first kisses, losing your faith and then, against all odds, finding it again. This book is about bad things that change people’s lives, a father’s love for his daughter, a brother’s love for his sister, a bad boy who finally figures out why he’s so broken, and a girl who grows up.

So if you’re looking for smut, or smexy scenes filled with groping and lust – move along. This book is not for you. (But my other book, TRAGIC, might be right up your alley!) ;)

Francesca Sabatini came to America to take in the sights, celebrate her high school graduation, and have fun wasting time before college starts in the fall.

That's not what happens.

Fresh off the plane and barely on American soil more than a handful of minutes, Francesca's face is recognized by TSA scanners to be a match for a child who was kidnapped twelve years ago.

Brody Mason remembers the day Fiona Sullivan went missing during a family vacation in Italy and it's haunted him his whole life. So when Francesca shows up at the Sullivan farm down the road, he's compelled to figure out if this girl really is his long-lost friend.

But Francesca knows she's not Fiona Sullivan. She knows exactly who she is. At least she thinks she knows – until Brody Mason relentlessly pursues her and she begins to have feelings for him. Maybe being Fiona isn't so bad?

Reality becomes blurred, secrets are revealed, and life will never be the same when the final questions are answered: Is she Francesca or Fiona? And where does she really belong?

Losing Francesca is a YA/NA crossover contemporary romance. :)

My Review of Losing Francesca by J.A. Huss

Luckily, I got to read an advance copy of Losing Francesca. One of the best stories I’ve read this year! It was so amazing, I read it in one night, a rare thing for me.

I love how JA Huss writes, it’s like emotions painted out with entrancing and flowing colors. This story was no exception. The blurb tells you what you need to know about the book and I have to say, every time I read this author’s work, it’s the definition of a mind bend. She’s an expert at twisting the plot into so many directions, misdirections and mystery, you can be left utterly flabbergasted at the end result. You just don’t ever see the ending coming.

Francesca Sabatini, also known as the long missing/abducted Fiona Sullivan, is a girl full of secrets. I wasn’t too sure what to think of her and she does get downright mighty annoying when she plants her feet to the ground and treats everyone in her adoptive family, The Sullivans, which she has just met, like they are her wardens. In a way, I can see why she feels that way, she’s been torn from what she thinks is her blood family, even though the family she’s with now are her family too, through adoption. How this all comes about is one insane ride.

Brody is her love interest and one of the town’s bad boys. His obsession with Fiona’s disappearance 12 yrs ago continues, especially after meeting Francesca/Fiona when she is forced to return to the Sullivan’s farm until she turns eighteen. He knows she’s the girl he’s dreamt about for years since they were best friends as little children. He’s amazing- a gentlemen of sorts, dedicated to Francesca/Fiona in a way that makes me just swoon. Who wouldn’t drool over such a fine man? Well Francesca can’t resist either, and I can’t blame her one bit. He’s written out as a broken creature, but I don’t see him as that shattered. With Fiona’s return, he really comes into himself and the way he treats her, oh my, can I just say you will want a Brody too.

As time goes on and Francesca’s two lives and lies come to a flitting collision and she really starts to wonder if she even wants to leave and return to the only life she can remember. Her father sounds like a dangerous man who has some sort of power and makes her fear about her future, but we don’t really see exactly why until we meet him. Seeing her interact with her adoptive family, along with Brody and the horses on the farm, which draw her in like magnets, makes me root for her to find a way to stay, even with the impending doom of another life sneaking up fast.

Full of twists and turns to keep you guessing what’s really going on, I absolutely loved this tale of love, family, discovery and what it means to follow your heart in adversity. Losing Francesca is a tale to stay with you late into the night and sent your heart fluttering. You’ve got to pick this up when it comes out, soooo yummy!

Author J.A. Huss
J. A. Huss likes to write new adult books that make you think and keep you guessing. Her favorite genre to read is space opera, but since practically no one reads those books, she writes new adult science fiction, paranormal romance, contemporary romance, urban fantasy, and books about Junco (who refuses to be saddled with a label).

She has an undergraduate degree in horses, (yes, really–Thank you, Colorado State University) and a master’s degree in forensic toxicology from the University of Florida. She used to have a job driving around Colorado doing pretty much nothing but shooting the breeze with farmers, but now she just writes, runs the New Adult Addiction and Clean Teen Reads Book Blogs, and runs an online science classroom for homeschoolers.
