REVIEW: Echo of an Earth Angel by Sarah M. Ross

Echo of An Earth Angel
By
Sarah M. Ross

Blurb:

18 year old Tessa Copeland barely survived the worst year of her life—in fact, it was a miracle. After making it through the tragedy that killed both of her parents, she’s left to pick up the pieces of her life. Combating the holes in her memory and the concern of her friends was hard enough, but a new talent threatens to destroy everything she’s trying to reclaim.

David Allegri didn’t mean to ruin Tessa’s life. She was the brightest soul he’d seen in centuries and he couldn’t let her die, so the fallen angel used his abilities to heal her—only he took it too far and changed Tessa forever. Now, he has to figure out a way to explain what’s happening to Tessa and somehow protect both of them from the consequences.

His choice made them targets for the Hunters, who will use any means necessary to capture their prey. Only a desperate plan can help them escape, and sacrifices will be made. Time is ticking. Will they make it, or will they be lost to the echoes of fate?

My Review of Echo of An Earth Angel

I’m not a big angel book lover fan, but this one was done very well. It had some interesting history and layout of heaven that I found different from other Angel books. The existence of angels on earth living amongst us has always been questioned. Ms. Ross gives us an amazing take and theory on how the Angels do their jobs on earth and why.

What I liked:
-Great world building- I really got lost in the mythos and background of the dynamics of Heaven and Earth.

-The Characters- David- a rogue Angel who roams the earth healing humans, and Tessa- a human girl who lived after a horrific event takes her family’s lives. Both characters are really nice and seem to just want to help people in the world. Always helps if they fall for each other in a really good way, right?

-The plot- David loves to use his powers of healing on unsuspecting humans, and in healing Tessa, he goes too far. Now, both are being hunted by the bounty hunters of heaven and some unsavory ‘angels’ up there, don’t have their best interest in mind.

-The secondary characters: Nico- he was insane to the brain but stole every scene he was in with ease. Tessa’s BFF Morgan was hysterical and down to earth. They really added flavor to the story and I hope there will be more of both in book 2.

What I didn’t like:
-The ending, it was left wide open for the next book, which I just pray will get here soon. (please, please, please)

-The way Tessa gets to heaven. Didn’t sound too pleasant and it made me cringe.

-Nico’s complete and utter apathy- Like when he discards his supposed true love so easily, without a thought. Does the man have no heart? *Shudders*

Pretty cool right?

I can’t wait for book 2, need to know what happens next in this battle of higher beings.

But now Jeremy has gone missing too and I feel like I'm never going to get all the answers I've been looking for.

Fate intervenes when Hugh, a real live college beefcake, starts taking an interest in me. He divulges that he also shares my little "gift" of seeing the dead and I know I'm finally getting closer to finding all the pieces.
However, the more the puzzle is completed, the more questions I have.
Senior year is hard enough as it is, but clearly I like a challenge.

New Release! Dark Salvation by Katie Salidas Review, Feature and Excerpts

Dark Salvation
By
Katie Salidas

Happy Release Day!!!!

Synopsis:

A gathering storm of violence is on the horizon. Whispered threats of the Acta Sanctorum’s return have the supernatural world abuzz. Only recently aware of the other world hidden behind our own, Kitara Vanders has barely scratched the surface of what being supernatural truly means. A special woman in her own right, she possesses unique telepathic abilities, gifts that have recently come under the scrutiny of the Acta Sanctorum, a fanatical organization whose mission is to cleanse the world of anything supernatural. Targeted and marked for death, Kitara’s only hope lies with the lethally seductive yet emotionally scarred warrior Nicholas.

Knowing full well the atrocities of which the Acta Sanctorum is capable, Nicholas is all too eager for the battle to begin. Fueled by pain and rage from the loss of his mate, he’s itching for a fight, but one thing stands in his way: Kitara, a beautiful dark-haired woman with unique psychic abilities and an unusual link to the Saints. Despite his resolve to remain focused on his mission, a purely physical relationship binds them together in a way neither of them expected. And when her life hangs in the balance, Nicholas finds his own is teetering on the edge too.

Excerpt:

“You really don't care about human life, do you?" Though her heart pounded erratically with fear, there was none in her angry voice.

“Nope.” Nicholas was not about to get into a morality war with this woman. He pulled out the dead man’s wallet and tossed it aside. “Nothing good here.”

“You’re an asshole, you know that?”

He’d been called that by so many people, but somehow hearing her say it struck a chord with him. “I’ve been called worse.” He tried to sound as if he didn’t care, but for some strange reason, he did. He opened his mouth to say something, but found the words escaped him. Humans never understood. Perhaps it was better off she thought him a jerk.

“I can’t believe you. Human life has to hold some meaning.”

“It does. If humans weren’t around, I’d have to eat animals.”

“You’re nothing but a monster, just like Jeremy said.”

That hurt. He had saved her life, and she hated him for it. He turned on her, anger setting his heart pounding. How dare she talk this way to him after he’d saved her? “He would have killed you without a second thought. That’s what the Saints do. They are the real monsters, not me.”

Perhaps it was his suddenly sharp tone, or maybe she realized he was telling the truth; whatever it was, Kitara paused. He heard her take a deep breath. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have snapped at you like that. You did save me. I’ve... I’ve just never witnessed a murder.” Her body was still trembling, and her heart thumped so erratically that he wondered if she might pass out. The tang of her fear wafted up to his nose. “You tore that guy’s throat out, in front of me. You killed him. You drank his blood.”

Nicholas attempted to temper the anger in his voice with patience in the hopes of getting her to relax. "Vampires drink blood, sweetheart.”

My Review of 'Dark Salvation' by Katie Salidas

Oh, Nicholas… he’s just my lost soul mate and I completely was at odds at the thought of him finding a new ‘mate’ in this story. However, it totally rocked my socks off. I love, love, love getting into Nicholas’ head, especially since he was one of my favorite characters from the Immortalis series. I couldn’t believe there’d be a novella with him in it!! I jumped on the chance to read this of course, and I wasn’t disappointed.

Nicholas has been brooding ever since the death of his mate Rozaline. The pain and anguish he suffers daily causes definite rifts in his vampire clan, who are currently residing in Boston. One night out with his leader, Lisander, brings him face to face with someone who shifts his world in a way he never expected. Kitara is searching for her lost fiancé, and she’s going to need Nicholas more than she, and he, knows

I enjoyed the playful banter between these two characters. I wasn’t sure, at first, if fireworks would happen for them, but love at first sight isn’t my thing for the most part. So, I was pleasantly surprised to see the relationship grow so naturally between these two supernaturals in their quest to find and defeat their mortal enemies, the Acta Sanctorum, a cult who specializes in eliminating anyone deemed ‘unnatural’ and who would like nothing but to destroy them both and everyone they love.

This is a spin off the Immortalis series and I hope to see more spin offs for I enjoy every minute with these colorful, intriguing and supernatural characters who weave their way into your head and never let go. Amazing storytelling and it includes some racy scenes to boil your blood and heat up the pages. Definitely a perfect addition to a great vampire series.
Definite 5 stars out of 5!!!
