Flash Question Session
Author River Jordan (K.R. Jordan)
1. What are your current and past projects that you have you done?
I have two projects currently underway though they are as yet untitled. Deciding on a title has always been the hardest part of writing. For now, I will just say the titles have not revealed themselves to me!
My fictional book is directly related to my short stories, Leela (Red Wine, Vamptasy Publishing, 10/2011) and Alba (Dark Light, Crushing Hearts and Black Butterfly Publishing 2/2012). It begins as the dust is settling on the battleground where fierce warriors are reduced to mere shells, struck by the devastation surrounding them. The warriors must choose between going home to be hailed as heroes or to stay and stand between the evil that destroys and the hope for the future. A future that centers around a single person, a light in the midst of the long, cold darkness.
I also have a non-fiction book in the works about dealing with emotional pain and moving on to the healing side of heartache.
2. What do you do to relax?
Swimming is what I love to do. From the first plunge into the pool, my body relaxes into the peaceful water, the ripples of light reflecting onto the bottom of the pool inspires my creativity!
3. Favorite guilty pleasure?
Listening to conversations around me at the park, Thin Mints, and Bath & Body Works' Eucalyptus Mint!!
4. What genres are your favorites and examples of them?
Post-apocalyptic - The Road; YA - The Mortal Instruments Series.
5. Your work area: Neat or Messy?
Einstein messy!! *wink wink*
6. What inspired you to write your books?
I would have to say my parents' love of reading and writing inspired me. My father with his paperback Louis L'amour in his back pocket. My mom who would read the classics to me every night as a child.
7. A tip to other authors that you finally figured out and wish had been told sooner?
Don't wait for your writing to be perfect, just let it flow out of you. There will be time enough later to make changes.
8. Read more or write more, which is better?
Read as you write and kill two birds with one stone!!! No, but seriously, I love to read so I would say read as much as you can. But when your muse calls, write as much as you can!!
I would love to meet Melquiades, The Blessed One, and leader of the elite.
